Founded in 2020 on the land that Emily was raised, Hamill Creek Hops is the latest endeavour to be undertaken on this property. Emily's folks started a timber frame company using the shop building that now is used to process and store hops.
We are a small business with family at its centre, a one-of-a-kind organic hop farm in the West Kootenays. Our goal is to provide high-quality hops, and build lasting relationships with brewers around BC.
At Hamill Creek Hops, we are committed to sustainable organic farming practices and take pride in our small-scale approach to growing. Great beer starts with great ingredients, so we hand-pick and carefully dry our hops to ensure the highest quality product for our customers.
We currently grow five varieties: Cascade, Mt. Hood, Sterling, Tahoma, and Willamette.
Hunter Stanway
With a passion for creative home-brewing and rural living, Hunter moved back to his home town with Emily where they were inspired to start an organic hops farm. Now farming seasonally, he also spends his time working with musical artists as a recording engineer at Kaslo's Propel Studios.
Emily Smith
Growing up on this land, Emily always dreamed of finding her way back and transforming her childhood home into a sustainable farm project. Now having established the hop field, Emily envisions expanding the operation to include medicinal plants for various balms and salves, as well as raising livestock. As a creative person and artist, Emily has spent the last several years designing timber frame homes.
